This is a lush, fluffy anhydrous facial indulgence. Its blend of shea butter + prickly pear oil + wheatgerm oil and I choose this particular oils for their skin healing properties, including high vitamin E content.
I wanted to formulate an effective anhydrous whipped cream to help moisturise + nourish + soften during the colder months and fade skin pigmentation, however this is light enough to use after the winter season and I have every intention of doing just that.
Anhydrous cream means the recipe does not include water, its pretty much just butters and oils with eco-silk and oat silk to help improve the texture and reduce greasiness. I must confess this cream feels like a soft, fluffy cloud on skin.
The brightening effect comes mostly from a particular active ingredient-Skinbright, a recent purchase from aromatic.co.uk. It’s suppose to effectively help with pigmentation without irritating the skin.
Also, I added Vitamin A Palmitate a potent antioxidant that helps improve skin tone and skin texture. It stimulates cell renewal and boost collagen production reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
Co-Enzyme Q10 protects the skin from free radicals and helps with cell regeneration. These ingredients, helps with the brightening effect I want from this cream.
The recipe makes 250grams of cream.
65% Refined Organic Shea Butter-130g
20% Refined Prickly Pear Oil- 40g
6% wheatgerm Oil- 12g
4.5% Skinlight Active
2% Eco-Silk- 4g
1% Vitamin E Oil- 2g
0.5% Vitamin A Palmitate- 1g
0.5% Q10 Co-enzyme- 1g
0.5% Jasmine Essential Oil- 1g( Personally, addition of essential oil or fragrance to skincare is always optional, infact I only added 6 drops in this particular recipe. You may skip it totally)
1/2 tablespoon Oat Silk(Optional, however it gives the cream a matifying and brightening effect)
Measure all the ingredients into a clean jar/bowl.
The butter and carrier oils (prickly pear oil + wheatgerm oil), should be measured into the same jar/bowl. Because none of the ingredients will be melted, it’s essential to use a soft butter.
Then proceed to use a hand blender to break the butter into the oil and blend till its all smooth and creamy.
After the oat silk has been incorporated, add the active ingredients, and blend some more.
The cream is ready to be poured into a clean jar at this point, however to get the cloudy, soft, fluffy feel, Put the cream in the fridge or in an ice bath and allow it to firm up for 10/15 minutes. Then with the help of an electric whisk, whisk for another 5 minutes.
Scoop into a jar or pipe into a jar like I did.
This is actually my face cream at the moment, I use it day and night after cleansing and hydrating with my skin essence spray. It is so nourishing, moisturising and non-greasy. It is best used on damp skin to help seal in moisture and can be used all over the skin.
