The thing about cold weather is, it’s really drying and it makes my skin itch. Hence, a thick and rich body butter is always a must. This decadent skin goodness is creamy yet non-greasy on the skin due to the choice of oils and butter especially Ucuuba.
Ucuubba butter known for its restorative properties is a slow absorbing butter, that forms an occlusive protective layer over the skin thereby locking in the moisture and leaving skin soft and smooth.
It is also extremely nourishing for mature skin.

In addition to Uccuba butter, fractionated coconut oil infused with calendar flowers and chickweed was added to create a very potent, healing and skin soothing concoction. Unrefined hempseed oil lends itself to intensify the effectiveness of this recipe and gives it a light green hue. Furthermore, hempseed oil is a source of omega-6 and 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, and a non-comedogenic plant oil.
Also, cetly alcohol and eco silk condensed the formulation, improved the spreadability and gives the finished product a very beautiful, smooth matte finish.
It is important to re-emphasis hydrating from the inside out i.e drinking water. But the immense advantage of a good and effective rich body butter must not be under estimated.

The Recipe:
This recipe makes a 250 grams of body butter.
Ucuuba virgin butter 30% = 75grams.
Infused fractionated coconut oil 31% = 77.5grams.
Unrefined hempseed oil 30% = 75grams.
Eco silk 5% = 12.5grams. (This can be replaced by adding more fractioned coconut oil)
Cetyl alcohol 2% = 5grams. (This can also by replaced by adding more solid butter, however the consistency may not be the same)
Vitamin E 1% = 2.5grams.
Essential oil/Fragrance oil 1% = 2.5grams.
I skipped the essential oil or fragrance oil, because I really love the earthy, clean smell of ucuuba butter.
The Method:
Measure out all your ingredients in a sanitised, heat save glass jar.
Prepare a double boiler by adding water into a pot or heat safe pan, allowing it to heat up, and placing the jar of ingredients in it, to slowing melt under a medium to low heat.
You can gently mix with a spatula to agitate, this may quicken the melting process.
When all the ingredients has been melted, take the jar out and place on a suitable surface, do not forget to wipe off any excess water from the jar.

Mix well with a spatula, until the melted butters and oil becomes translucent. You can place in a cold water bath to hasten the process.

At this point, place it in a fridge (Not freezer) for 5mins, after 5mins bring it out and whip with a hand mixer.
Whip for up to 2mins and place it back into the fridge (Not freezer) for a few more minutes.
Bring it out again and whip until a desired consistency is reached.

I prefer to stop whipping when I can make a peak with the mixture.
The consistency of this butter is lush and so bouncy! I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.

I cannot get enough of this beauteous Body butter!.
Pipe your butter into a jar and voila! it is ready to be used.

I suggest you use on a damp skin, to get the best result, afterall this is not an emulsion and a dry skin needs to be hydrated, before it can be moisturised.
Although this formulation is powered by ucuuba butter, it can be substituted for shea butter, cocoa butter or any available butter. The texture may differ.
Thank you for reading and hoping this inspires you to make something today.
