Skin exfoliation is the removal of rough, dry, dead skin cell on the body/face/lips, to reveal a softer, fresher, brighter, smoother and younger looking skin. This is done by the mixture of coarse/abrasive substances like salts ( Epsom salt, Dead sea salt, pink Himalayan salt), sugars (white, brown), apricot, oatmeal, jojoba beads, etc and natural massage oil and butters.
Scrubs are amazing but should be used once or twice a week because too much of it can damage the skin as well. I have always made body scrubs out of just sugar and honey in the past because it is cheap and quick and does the job for me, However the addition of salt is new but I really like this one because the tea tree oil and the dead sea salt makes it really invigorating, fresh and softens dry itchy skin. This is my recipe and I hope you like it as much as I do.
MY RECIPE
Manuka Honey 2 TBS
White Sugar1/3 cup (2)
Dead Sea Salt 1/3 cup (1)
Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil 1TBS
Polysorbate 80 1TBS
Extra Virgin Olive Oil 2TBS
2 Bags of Tea Tree Tea
Tea Tree Essential oil (A few drops)
How To
- Measure out the salts and sugars
- Cut open the tea bags and empty the content in the salt and sugar
- Mix well together with a spatula or spoon
- Add your oils, essential oils and gels
- Mix again, and this is where you want to check the consistency you want.
- Pour in an air tight container.
How To Use
On a dry skin, scoop your scrub out and gently rub on the skin in a circular motion till you cover the whole of your body. Please note that this is not a face scrub so it should not be used on the face.
Rinse off, have your normal bath and slather on a good moisturizer. Your skin will feel so fresh and soft to touch immediately.
Because there is no water in this scrub, it can be kept in the shower tray or just outside the fridge for maybe two to three weeks (mine is still there). However the best thing is to make a little at a time so that it can be used within a month from the date it was made.
