Heal Your Heels
Serendipity, yes thats what I like to call this particular recipe, a proper pleasant surprise. I made a cocoa butter cream for my skin, and I randomly started using it for my very rough heels that was caused by my home pedicure. Anyway I started using it and within a week my heels were totally smoothened out, as in all rough patches gone.
One thing I know for a fact is that cocoa butter will heal and soften your skin. And it made up half of the recipe, I also added vitamin E and because I was thinking about my dry skin and oils that worked best, I decided to use organic unrefined hempseed oil and sea buckthorn oil.
I also used btms 50 in this recipe, this in fact was on a whim, I had no idea if it was going to work or not, but it did!. Btms 50 is a Conditioning emulsifying wax that does wonders for dry skin or hair. It does have really peculiar smell though.
Hempseed oil, extracted from hempseed which are high in important unsaturated fatty acids i.e omega 3,6 and 9 fatty acids. It is amazing for dry skin and its a skin balancing oil.

Sea buckthorn oil contains anti oxidants including vitamins C and E which studies have proven that it helps reduce skin roughness and removes dead skin cells. It is a very deep orange colour and will change the colour of any ingredient added to it.
It also contains essential fatty acids known as Omega 7 palmitoleic acid, it is considered to be an effective treatment in healing burns, wounds and sun damaged skin.
Benzoin Essential Oil, also known as gum benzoin. It is known for not only its scent but for its antiseptic and healing properties. It is an effective remedy for irritable, itchy and dry skin conditions.
RECIPE
Unrefined Cocoa Butter 40% (Shea Butter, Mango Butter, Murumuru Butter can be used instead of Cocoa Butter)
Organic Unrefined Hempseed Oil 43% 43g
Sea Buckthorn Oil 5% 5g
Avocado Butter 5% 5g
Btms 50 5% 5g (This is optional and can be replaced by adding more cocoa butter or beeswax/almond wax, the texture will be slightly impacted and obviously the Conditioning properties that btms 50 brings will be absent but the overall effectiveness remains the same.)
Vitamin E Oil 1% 1g
Benzoin Essential Oil 1% 1g
Bowl
Spoon/Spatula
Measuring Scale

HOW TO
- Measure out the cocoa butter and the wax in a heat resistant bowl. Allow to melt in a microwave or double boiler/hot water bath.

- Add the oils and soft butter, the heat from the melted cocoa butter will melt the avocado butter and the oils do not need to be heated.

- Use your spatula to mix the liquid until it starts to get opaque, You can put the it in a bath of cold water to help cool down faster.

- When your blend is opaque and thicker, pour into a sanitised jar and label if you want to. The reason why you need to keep mixing with a spatula until its opaque is because it makes for a very smooth balm.

HOW TO USE
